 opened in 1963 as part of the Department of Speech and Theater. Since 1973, it has operated in conjunction with the Department of Television and Radio, providing production facilities and technical support to the Department. Center facilities are also available for rental by private clients. (For further information on rentals, please call the Operations Manager at 718 951-5585.) To help bridge the distance between academic experience and the workplace, the Center employs students in the department's Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) program as part-time professional assistants. They participate in all aspects of operation and provide crucial support for Center activities.

are extensive. Most productions originate in the main studio, Studio B, which is 63' x 35' with a 14' grid height. Studio B is equipped with a full complement of over 50 lighting instruments, three HK-323 Ikegami cameras (two with QTV TelePrompTer facility), Sony DVS 7250 digital video switcher, Chyron Max!> character generator, Leitch electronic still store and Mackie Digital 8 Bus audio console. In addition, the studio features full 360 degree black cyclorama capability, and a permanently installed green-screen area for chroma-key use. Master Control is equipped with Betacam SP, DVCPRO, DVD, mini-DV, U-Matic and S-VHS/VHS video recorders.

include the latest cutting edge technologies. The Center has fourteen Final Cut Pro editing stations, including one high-end system with uncompressed capture capability via an AJA i/o. Workstations include dual displays and video monitors, DV and DVD capture/record capabilities. uses a variety of DV-based camcorders, including the latest from Panasonic and Sony, and MFA students may also make use of professional Betacam SP equipment. The Center also offers a GlobeCaster mobile production system for live-switching sports and arts events in the field.
also houses a fully-outfitted carpentry shop where sets for studio productions are created. All facilities available to students include a production office with computers, fax and phone lines (connections to the college's LAN provides e-mail, Internet and Web access), and a student lounge. Students can also make use of our campus radio station, WBCR, which houses state-of-the-art facilities, and the Department of Art's Digital Media Center, which specializes in graphics-intensive post-production work and includes Windows and Macintosh workstations, and several further non-linear editing systems.
