Message from the Chair
Thank you for your interest in our undergraduate programs in Television and Radio at Brooklyn College. We are very proud of these programs. They have grown to be among the best in the world with state-of-the-art production facilities, and a highly professional faculty and staff. Most of our faculty members have doctoral degrees as well as considerable first-hand experience in both the television and radio industry and the emerging media.
We offer a Bachelor of Arts in Television and Radio and a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism.
Our students run BCR, the very active campus radio station. Advanced undergraduates have the opportunity to work on department-produced television productions. We also provide opportunities to work with the Center for the Study of World Television, and the department has an active television club run by the students with faculty advisors.
As you can see from the enclosed materials, we have a diversified curriculum which will give you a broad understanding of television and radio. But the media industry is extremely competitive, and we have found that a humanities background joined with a balanced study of media content, media effects, and media production best prepares the student to achieve his or her future occupational goals.
If you have not already done so, I suggest you make an appointment to see our facilities and talk with one of our Departmental counselors.
George Rodman, Chair
