wasser

Thank you for your interest in our undergraduate programs in Television and Radio at Brooklyn College. These programs have been among the leading programs in the field for several decades and now have grown to be among the best in the world with state-of-the-art production facilities, and a highly professional faculty and staff. Our faculty members have a prestigious balance of doctoral and professional degrees. All have critical skills as well as considerable first-hand experience in television and radio industries and emerging media.

We offer a Bachelor of Arts in Television and Radio and a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism.

Our students run BCR, the very active campus radio station. Advanced undergraduates have the opportunity to work on department-produced television productions, and the department has an active television club run by the students with faculty advisors.

As you can see from the enclosed materials, we have a diversified curriculum which will give you a broad understanding of television and radio and the relationship between media and the world. Media industries are extremely competitive, and we have found that a humanities background joined with a balanced study of media content, media effects, and media production best prepares the student to achieve her or his future occupational goals. Our students come out of the program with something to say and the skills to say it effectively.

If you have not already done so, we suggest you make an appointment to see our facilities and talk with a member of our department.

Frederick Wasser, Ph.D.
Chair
