The Brooklyn College Department of Television and Radio offers the Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism. Among the best in the country in the communications field, it is the only such program in the City University of New York.
Equipped with strong technical and news skills as well as specialized knowledge in another subject area, broadcast journalism majors are well prepared to enter professional news operations. Graduates of the program are employed at such media companies as CBS Newsradio 88 in New York City, WKYW-TV in Philadelphia, Telemundo in Chicago.

An additional 12 credits of advanced coursework are required in any department or area other than Television and Radio, Communication, and the Journalism Program of the English Department, with the courses approved by the program director. All courses must not have an asterisk in front of them and must be approved by the BSBJ program director.
Pre-requisites for all TVR production courses for BSBJ Majors are TVRA 2420 (20) and ENG 2402 (18.17) OR TVR 3535 (35). BSBJ majors should have TVRA 2616 (16) or TVRA 3728 (28) as a co-requisite or pre-requisite. All students are required to complete all required courses in their major with "C -" or better.
