The Department of Television and Radio offers undergraduate programs in Television and Radio and Broadcast Journalism, and graduate programs in Media Studies and Television Production. Our undergraduate students run WBCR, the campus radio station.  Advanced undergraduates have the opportunity to work on broadcast and cable television productions.  We also provide research opportunities through the department's Center for the Study of World Television and the Advertising and Culture Archive at Brooklyn College.  Both undergraduate and graduate students may select from a wide range of internship opportunities with leading media organizations in the metropolitan area.  Graduate students have classes available at Brooklyn College as well as in designated sites in Manhattan.

For over forty years, the Department of Television and Radio has prepared students for careers as electronic media professionals by providing an outstanding theoretical foundation that examines the

socio/political/economic impact of media on society, and the finest practical aesthetic training in nearly every genre of radio, television and new media. We equip our students with the latest in technology including having a state-of-the-art post production facility, new High-Definition cameras, and our upcoming full HD television studio, which will debut in Spring of 2013.

Television and Radio at Brooklyn College is considered a flagship department within the CUNY system, and is one of the college’s most popular majors. Alumni of Television and Radio work in creative and technical positions throughout the industry. Upon graduation, they have taken on production, direction, editing, and technical jobs. Evidence of our theoretical training manifests itself in the fact that so many of our graduates continue their education for an advanced degree.  Many of these students are tenured faculty members or hold other positions at major universities throughout the world.  Please stop by our office and see what a degree from the Department of Television and Radio can do for you.
