Jerome Coopersmith
Adjunct Professor
A native New Yorker, Coopersmith served in the U.S, Army for two years
before beginning a career in the early days of television. His TV credits
include historical drama, plays based on contemporary events, sci-fi, action
adventure, and the adaptation of classical literature for TV.
In addition, he has written original dramas for the television, and plays for
the legitimate stage. He received the Robert E. Sherwood Award for his TV play “I Was Accused” which told the story of George Voskovec the Czech actor who escaped from his country during World War II , and then was imprisoned in America during the days of the McCarthy witch hunt.
Coopersmith’s plays for the legitimate stage include “Baker Street” a musical adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes saga by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, “The Diary of Adam and Eve” an adaptation of the biblical story by Mark Twain, and “The Mystery of Anna O” a play he wrote with Lucy Freeman about the first person in the world ever to be psychoanalyzed.
His play “Eleanor” was a biographical play about the early life of Eleanor Roosevelt when she worked as a volunteer teacher in a New York Settlement House.
Coopersmith’s teaching career began at Hunter College in New York, and now continues at Brooklyn College in the borough where he spent a good part of his childhood.

Gene Cunningham is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of St. John’s University, with a B.S. in Communication Arts. He was awarded the University’s “Silver Key” for academic achievement. He also holds a M.A. in Media Studies from Queens College.
Gene started his business career in Media in 1977 at Blair Television, where he spent over 21 years in the Research and Marketing arena. In 1989, he was promoted to the position of Vice President of Research and Marketing. He also spent 3 ½ years at Blair’s sister company, Petry Television, before moving to FOX Stations Sales as Vice President of Research in June 2001. While at Petry, Gene was the recipient of the “Circle of Excellence Award” for outstanding service. He has been an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Graduate Television and Radio department of Brooklyn College for nearly 25 years and is also and Adjunct Assistant Professor in New York Institute of Technology’s Communications Graduate dept. for the past 5 years. He is the current Chairman of NYIT’s ASC Advisory Board.
From 1986-1989 he was Chairman of the Association of Independent Television’s
Research Advisory Committee and from 1999-2001 he was Co-Chair of the Television Bureau of Advertising Association’s (TVB) NSAC Research Committee. He is still an active committee member for TVB. He is also a former member of Nielsen’s Policy and Guidelines Committee.
Gene resides in Long Island with his wife and two children.

Young Cheong

Young Cheong currently teaches video postproduction and theory through the department of Television and Radio at Brooklyn College. He also teaches in the Film Department at Dong-Kuk University in Seoul, Korea.
Cheong has continuously collaborated with the Department of Asian Studies as well as many other departments for years to not only promote diversity within the campus but also to bring awareness of its impact on the community. Aside from teaching Cheong is the Education Coordinator for New Media and Digital Technology at Brooklyn College, and the technology consultant in the Department of Television and Radio.
In 2009, the Department of Television and Radio received a grant of 2.8 million dollars from the New York City Council and the President of the Borough of Brooklyn. Because of Cheong’s research knowledge, he has proven to be invaluable in his involvement in coordinating the TV Center studio renovation project, which will replace all Standard Definition (SD) production and post-production facilities with High Definition (HD) systems in 2012.
Outside of the campus, Cheong is an Apple Certified Trainer for Final Cut Pro with an extensive knowledge in Avid video editing systems. Because of his expertise, he was invited to train Fox & CNN Editors in migrating from Avid systems to Final Cut Pro.
Cheong's newly released book, Advanced Editing with Apple Final Cut Pro, is the first Korean textbook on using Apple Final Cut Pro 7. The goal of the book is to help students educate themselves on using the software in their classroom whether it is in a Korean university or institutions specializing in post-production. Currently, it is one of the top ten bestselling, media books on the Korean version of Amazon.com.
Cheong was awarded a CUNY Diversity Projects grant that he used to produce a research documentary, A World Within, which highlighted Asian students attending various campuses within the CUNY school system. Cheong’s film, The Smoking Woman, screened at international film festivals, such as Cannes Short Film Corner 2009. He is also a director of photography for the American Penguin Project, which was awarded ' the best online film award' at the Sundance Film Festival in 2006. As a collaborator for SBS, Korea’s third largest broadcasting company, Cheong also produces weekly programs in the New York area.
As technology within the broadcasting industry continues to change at a rapid rate, Cheong hopes to continuously inspire others in adopting these technological advancements.

Wendy Goodman
Adjunct Assistant Professor

Wendy Goodman is a videographer and marketing professional with over 10 years experience in Radio and Video Production. Hailing from Austin, Texas, Wendy moved to New York in 2004 to join her extended family and become a Multimedia Artist. An alumna of the University of Texas Film School and Brooklyn College MFA program, Wendy now teaches the Media Aesthetics course at Brooklyn College.
Wendy’s MFA thesis documentary, Jewish Music: It’s More Than Klezmer, garnered much praise, earning Wendy the Outstanding Editing award.
Her current freelance video projects include: Video Journalist for the NYDailyNews.com, one of the top daily newspapers in the country, producing writing, and editing; Video Marketing Manager at a specialized workout facility, Personal Training Institute, producing and directing corporate videos and managing social media outreach.
For more than 10 years, Wendy has worked in Radio Production as a DJ on commercial and Internet radio. Wendy hosted an urban-eclectic show of hip-hop, electronic, reggae and dub music, entitled Cool Flow Mix, on BreakThruRadio.com; and, currently produces videos for new & noteworthy artists on their website. She also hosted an afternoon show and remote broadcasts on Smooth Jazz Radio and La Mexicana Radio in Austin, Texas. Wendy’s music experience also expands into management and booking where she was a Booking Agent for various independent artists in New York City.
Wendy works full-time in marketing as an Analyst/Copywriter/Producer for an international market research firm. She writes press releases, sales pieces, website content, as well as produces corporate videos. Her work has been published in a variety of industry trades, including AdAge, AdWeek, NYT and USA Today.
Wendy is also chairperson of AWNY’s (Advertising Women of NY) Young Executive committee—the largest AWNY committee with 400+ members-- where she manages event planning and industry involvement for women under 30.
Wendy has held positions in New Business, Marketing and Strategic Planning at Saatchi & Saatchi, a global advertising firm renowned for its creative excellence, where she led consumer research projects (both qualitative and quantitative), moderated focus groups, conducted in-home interviews, organized corporate events (including one of the largest art auction--with the Harlem School of the Arts—in the company’s history). She worked on such brands as Pampers, Luvs, Iams pet food, as well as new business pitches and pro-bono accounts.
Wendy lives in Brooklyn, and in her spare time enjoys traveling, running, yoga, volunteer work, and animal rescue.
